The Cleveland Browns entered their second preseason game against the Buffalo Bills on Saturday with very few injury concerns. Despite that, head coach Todd Monken decided to rest many of his potential starters, influenced in part by the work they got in a joint practice with the Bills leading up to the game.
That gave some players further down the depth chart a chance to make an impression. That included Isaiah Bond, who looks to be the Browns’ No. 4 wide receiver to start the season as a speedy big-play threat.
The second-year pro responded with one catch for eight yards and one rush on a reverse for four yards. Unfortunately, he did not get to add to those modest totals.
According to Camryn Justice of News 5 Cleveland, the key Browns player suffered an injury on Saturday and left the field in the first half.
“WR Isaiah Bond went into the medical tent for evaluation and just walked back to the locker room with trainers,” Justice posted.

Bond, who was being evaluated for a concussion, was targeted just once by quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who started the game and played the first half. Sanders did lead a touchdown drive, but he also threw an interception with the Browns heading toward a score.
Starting wide receivers Jerry Jeudy and Denzel Boston did not play, nor did KC Concepcion. Bond’s roster spot appears to be safe, even with this injury, with Tylan Wallace the likely No. 5 wide receiver. That leaves Cedric Tillman, who sat out for the second straight game, competing for the final wide receiver roster spot with Malachi Corley, Gage Larvadain and Luke Floriea.
If Bond’s is out for multiple weeks, that could open up an additional roster spot at the position. After catching a long pass from Sanders in the preseason opener against the Chicago Bears, Floriea caught a TD pass from him against the Bills.
Bond is now unlikely to play in the preseason finale against the New England Patriots on Thursday based on this development, so hopefully he’ll be ready to go for Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sept. 13.
