After months of hard work and an enormous amount of attention, Deshaun Watson has been given the job of starting quarterback for the 2026 season. To say that his selection received a response is a major understatement.
On 92.3 The Fan, Brady Quinn shared his opinion on Watson. He thinks that Monken has the opportunity to rebuild the Browns’ offense around Watson.
Watson leading the team didn’t make sense before, Quinn suggested, but it makes sense now.
“I actually love Todd Monken as a play-caller. I’ve felt like this gives Deshaun Watson the best chance…and making this work. I was never a fan of how it all came about…it never made sense for Kevin Stefanski’s offense. Todd Monken can build an offense that really plays to the strengths of Deshaun Watson. I do think you’re going to see some of those elements in their offense this season,” Quinn said.

Monken’s hiring came as the team also brought in a slew of new players. They are all arriving with the goal of showing immediate improvement, by any means necessary.
Monken knew that choosing Watson was going to get pushback, especially after last week and the media circus created by the quarterback’s post-game comments. But he still firmly believes that Watson is key to an improved 2026.
In his prime, Watson was an athletic, smart quarterback who was quick on his feet. After months working together, Monken thinks that he can craft offensive plans that will benefit from Watson being in charge.
His years studying offense and play-making have all led to this, and now Monken has to prove to fans that he made the right choice.
