The Cleveland Browns are entering one of the most consequential days of the entire offseason, with final roster cuts looming and several genuine position battles still unresolved. Local radio hosts Daryl Ruiter and Nick Pedone previewed what the front office faces as the deadline approaches, highlighting the quarterback room as the most pressing decision on the docket. With Todd Monken already having acknowledged how difficult it will be to trim that group down, and trade speculation swirling around Dillon Gabriel, Cleveland is facing a few critical decisions today.
“The biggest decisions that have to be made today, obviously starts with the quarterback room. Do they keep all four of the guys? Do they try to get one through waivers and onto the practice squad? Assuming they keep 6 wide receivers, because Tylan Wallace is going to be wide receiver number 5. The sixth wide receiver, which I think comes down to Malachi Corley and Luke Floriea. I think Corley wins that because of special teams,” Ruiter said.
"There's gonna be a tax. If they decide to keep 4 QBs, there's a 4-QB tax."

The most likely path involves attempting to get rookie Taylen Green through waivers and onto the practice squad rather than carrying all 4 passers on the active roster. That kind of move would require Green to clear waivers first, a real risk given the strong preseason performance he turned in.
The wide receiver dilemma adds another layer to an already crowded position group that has undergone significant turnover since the release of Cedric Tillman earlier in the week. With Jerry Jeudy, Isaiah Bond, Wallace, and rookies KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston effectively locked into the top 5 spots, the battle for a sixth receiver spot appears to be a genuine two-man race between Corley and Floriea. Ruiter predicts that Corley wins that battle due to his special teams value. That would represent a difficult outcome for Floriea, the undrafted local product out of Kent State who led the Browns in preseason receiving and spoke emotionally about what making the roster would mean to him.
For a Browns team that has already navigated an eventful and closely scrutinized offseason, this final round of roster decisions adds one more chapter before the focus shifts entirely to the opener in Jacksonville.
