Browns Add Former Saints WR To Practice Squad

With the NFL roster deadline taken care of on Sunday, the Cleveland Browns, as expected, are looking over the waiver wire to see if there are any players they want to add to their team. The Browns still need depth at some important positions, but they are also willing to make an upgrade if they believe one has become available.

One of Cleveland’s most difficult decisions came at wide receiver, as not only did they have to determine if they would keep five or six players at the position, but who that sixth spot might go to. The Browns chose Malachi Corley over local favorite Luke Floriea, who might be headed back to their practice squad.

But the Browns may have other ideas, as, according to ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler, they added former New Orleans Saints wide receiver Bub Means to the practice squad on Monday.

A fifth-round pick by New Orleans in the 2024 NFL Draft, Means was waived by the Saints on Saturday. Limited by an ankle injury, he played in seven games as a rookie, making one start and drawing 15 targets in his 145 offensive snaps.

Means was sidelined all of last season after suffering an ankle injury in the Saints’ first preseason game. At 6-foot-2, 204 pounds, he would give the Browns another big receiver to go along with rookie starter Denzel Boston, whereas Floriea is just 5-foot-8, 180 pounds and would fill a very different role.

The Browns seem to be set at receiver for now, with Boston and fellow rookie KC Concepcion joining Jerry Jeudy, Isaiah Bond, Tylan Wallace and Corley. Cleveland will be looking for an overall improvement at the position after it finished last in the NFL as a group in receptions, yards and touchdown catches last season.

The Browns have also signed defensive end Logan Fano to the practice squad, and they could be looking to retain running back Ahmani Marshall, wide receiver Gage Larvadain and offensive lineman KT Leveston, along with Floriea.
