Cleveland Browns rookie KC Concepcion is slated to be a focal point of this team’s offense all year, and that was already evident during the team’s Week 1 blowout at the hands of the Jacksonville Jaguars. The offense struggled mightily and needed a late garbage time touchdown just to reach ten points, but Concepcion did lead the team with five targets and caught four of them for 43 yards, so there is at least something to build on there.
His lost fumble was disappointing, but not something fans should worry about becoming a trend. For this passing game to thrive, he and fellow rookie Denzel Boston need to keep blossoming and earning more opportunities regardless of how questionable the quarterback position is at the moment.
On Wednesday, Concepcion opened up about his first NFL game and what the experience was like for him. He didn’t sound too surprised or sentimental and already seems to be fully focused on putting it behind him and getting better in Week 2.
“It was a great experience to go out there and get my first NFL game in. Seeing how the speed of the game is different. Week 1 didn’t go how we planned it. Just move on to the next one,” Concepcion said.

Both Concepcion and Denzel Boston showed promise, which fans should be hanging their hats on heading into Week 2. There wasn’t much to like about that performance, but if the rookies are showing positive developments, it’s certainly an exciting development that provides genuine reason to be encouraged about the rest of the season.
It’s great to hear that Concepcion isn’t dwelling too much on the fumble or the team’s overall poor performance. The season goes quickly and the quicker he can move on from his mistakes, the better. Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers represents an opportunity for redemption against a tough secondary that shut down Ja’Marr Chase to the tune of two catches for 12 yards in Week 1.
Now that Concepcion got his first big blunder out of the way, there’s nowhere to go but up. It will be interesting to see if he can take another step forward right away now that the first game jitters are in the rearview mirror.
