The Cleveland Browns continue to monitor available players around the NFL whenever one of them pops up. It is a necessary duty for a rebuilding team that should always be trying to improve its roster, even if it is only on the margins.
At this point, with the regular season underway, most of that activity will involve comings and goings on the practice squad. It is a way for a team to acquire depth or a young player with upside that can be called on when needed.
With that in mind, the Browns made two roster moves on Friday, adding wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr. to the practice squad and parting with wideout Kole Wilson.
“We’ve signed WR Jimmy Horn Jr. to the practice squad and released WR Kole Wilson from the practice squad,” the Browns posted.

Horn, a college teammate of Shedeur Sanders at Colorado, was waived by the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday. He played 14 offensive snaps in the season opener against the Chicago Bears and did not catch his only target.
Horn did muff a punt in the second quarter, and the turnover led to a Bears field goal. That could be part of the reason he was let go, but according to ESPN, Horn was waived to make room for former Miami Dolphins starting linebacker Tyrel Dodson, who was promoted from the Carolina practice squad after another team tried to sign him.
In addition to emerging as Carolina’s primary kick returner, Horn stood out during the preseason with seven catches for 75 yards. A sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, he played in 13 games as a rookie, posting 11 catches for 108 yards and eight carries for 69 yards.
Wilson was let go by the Browns on NFL cutdown day but was then re-signed to the practice squad. After failing to establish himself as part of Cleveland’s revamped wide receiver rotation, he did have a potential role as a kick returner.
Now, Horn could have a role in that area with Dylan Sampson on injured reserve with a knee injury suffered on a kickoff return in the season-opening loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
