The Cleveland Browns look to have solved their wide receiver issues for years with the emergence of KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston. The rookies have already shown enough in their very young careers that the Browns reportedly may be willing to trade away veteran Jerry Jeudy.
Yet, that has not stopped the idea that Cleveland may be looking at another young wideout to add to the mix. Former Ohio State star Marvin Harrison Jr. has fallen well short of expectations in three seasons with the Arizona Cardinals and may be on the market.
Analyst Nathan Zegura said he isn’t against the Browns trading for the struggling wide receiver, saying that the combination of talent and price is worth considering.
“You hear some things out about that it’s the details at this level. It’s one thing to be a supreme athlete, but it’s the details. He’s not necessarily a burner, so when you’re not, your details have to be so good in your route-running and in your depths and in sync with your quarterback. There have been some times when maybe that has not necessarily been the case. But he’s a guy that we know how talented he is. If he’s available, he’s somebody that I certainly wouldn’t mind. If the reports are true that it would take a Day 3 pick, I mean, why not?” Zegura said.

Harrison was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, which was the highest a wide receiver was taken since Amari Cooper was the fourth pick by the Oakland Raiders in 2015. He also became the highest-drafted Ohio State wide receiver in its distinguished history.
Considering Arizona’s quarterback issues, Harrison posted a respectable 62 receptions for 885 yards and eight touchdowns as a rookie. Last season, limited to 12 games by multiple injuries, Harrison fell off to 41 catches for 608 yards and four touchdowns.
This year, he has just five receptions for 85 yards, with one or zero catches in three of the Cardinals’ four games. So, it has become very clear that a change of scenery could benefit both sides.
Whether the Browns are the proper destination is worthy of debate. With Concepcion, Boston, and tight end Harold Fannin Jr. dominating targets and succeeding while doing so, Cleveland does not seem to have a glaring need for another pass catcher.
It is also worth considering that Harrison will be in line for a contract extension following this season. With so many talented young players in line for big deals in the coming years, it would seem that the Browns do not need to take on what might be a luxury item.
Harrison was considered one of the best wide receiver prospects in decades, but based on his time in the NFL so far, the Browns may be better off at the position without him.
