The Cleveland Browns are dealing with a plethora of injuries that will certainly have an impact on their Week 6 game against the Baltimore Ravens. But even though the Ravens are not facing the number of injuries that the Browns are, theirs may be much more significant.
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson did not play in their Week 5 win against the Atlanta Falcons because of an ankle injury. This week at practice, wide receiver Zay Flowers was added to the injury report with a toe issue, after already missing a game this year with a hamstring problem.
So, the Browns could face the Ravens without two of their opponent’s best players, with updates on Friday likely to provide much more clarity on the situation.
“I think today’s the big day. If [Lamar] does not practice again today, I do not think he will play on Sunday. I think if he practices today and takes starter’s work, then he’ll be ready to go. Lamar Jackson certainly does not need to practice on a Wednesday or Thursday, probably doesn’t even need to practice on a Friday, but teams typically like to have at least their quarterback out there on a Friday. The thing I’m really looking for in their practice today in addition to Lamar is Zay Flowers. Zay Flowers was not injured Wednesday, full participant, shows up with a toe injury yesterday that caused him to be limited. He is their No. 1 guy in the pass game. That would be a big loss for them,” Zegura said.

This may not be all good news for Cleveland. The absence of Jackson and Flowers will likely make the Ravens even more reliant on Derrick Henry and their running game, which has been the Browns’ weakness on defense this season.
But anytime you can face the Ravens without Jackson, you have to take advantage. Even though he is averaging just a little bit more than 240 yards per game, his passer rating of 119.6 leads the NFL among quarterbacks who have played at least three games. Meanwhile, Flowers is averaging 101.3 receiving yards per game, with 185 yards after the catch, both of which rank sixth in the league.
The Browns may also be without one of their top receivers as rookie KC Concepcion tries to work his way back from a concussion he suffered in Cleveland’s Week 5 loss to the New York Jets. He was one of 17 players to appear on the injury report this week, including wide receiver Denzel Boston (foot).
Cleveland is also likely to be without its top three running backs. Quinshon Judkins is dealing with an ankle injury, Raheim Sanders was placed on injured reserve with a hip injury, and Dylan Sampson was activated off IR after recovering from a knee injury.
So, both offenses could be compromised on Sunday, which means it could wind up as a close, low-scoring affair.
