Game balls are usually handed to the players at the center of the biggest moments. Coaches use them to recognize performances that swung a game, and the choices often reveal what the staff valued most from a given afternoon. Sometimes those choices come with a message attached. Todd Monken’s latest pick certainly did.
Todd Monken acknowledged that opportunities have decreased for Jerry Jeudy, but praised him for doing anything he can to help the team win.
“I gave him a game ball and he deserved it. We are better on offense when we are able to utilize Jerry,” Monken said.

Jerry Jeudy was the most productive receiver on the field for the Browns. He caught all 4 of his targets for 69 yards, including a 33-yard reception, giving the offense a spark on a day when yards were hard to come by.
The timing of this performance is notable. Jeudy has been one of the most discussed names ahead of the November 10 trade deadline, with reports linking him to the San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. Jordan Schultz reported the Browns are seeking an early 3rd- to 4th-round pick in return.
Entering Sunday, he had just 8 catches for 81 yards through 5 games, and his snap share had dipped below 40% in the win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
That raises an interesting question. Does Monken’s praise signal that the Browns plan to keep Jeudy for a playoff push, or does a performance like this simply raise his trade value? It could be both. Cleveland is now 4-2 and in 1st place in the AFC North, and a veteran receiver who can make plays in big moments has real value to a contender.
The health of the receiver room may factor in as well. KC Concepcion just returned from a concussion, and Denzel Boston was limited in practice all week with a foot injury. Keeping a reliable veteran around provides insurance for a young group.
Whatever the Browns decide, Jeudy made his case on Sunday. A game ball from his head coach and a performance that helped lift Cleveland into 1st place could change the conversation around his future, whether that future is with the Browns or with a contender searching for help before the deadline.
