An NFL team won’t go far if the players don’t get along with each other and genuinely care for one another. After a tumultuous offseason and a slew of questions about their future, it looks like the Cleveland Browns are coming together and building some genuine chemistry behind the scenes.
A video shared on social media features QB Deshaun Watson inviting a number of Browns players over to his place for a night of fun and games. Together, the players enjoyed poker, ping pong, pool, and more. Based on the video footage, it looks like a great time and a chance for the star players to get closer and have a few laughs.
According to Dov Kleiman, Watson and his wife spent over $20,000 on the get-together.
“This is awesome: Browns star QB Deshaun Watson hosted teammates Denzel Ward, Denzel Boston, and KC Concepcion for poker, billiards, and ping-pong. Cleveland finally has its franchise QB,” Dov Kleiman posted.

This is a great move by Watson, and it’s somewhat shocking. It was only a few months ago that people thought he wasn’t going to be with the Browns for much longer. The pleas to the front office to trade Watson had never been louder, and he only made the case against himself stronger with some poor preseason performances and some of the things he said to the media.
Now, Watson is hanging out with his fellow players and has a smile on his face. And this game night was his idea, which makes it even more valuable. Watson obviously wants his teammates to have a good time, and he wants to be a part of it.
He is showing some leadership attributes that had been missing for a very long time. This night together has some people wondering what’s next for Watson. If he is so fond of his fellow players and the rest of the team likes him, the Browns might feel inclined to try and offer him another, cheaper deal. His contract is expiring this year, and no one is sure what comes next for him.
One fun night with the rest of the team doesn’t guarantee another contract for Watson. But it is a positive sign, and it should encourage Browns fans.
Watson’s change of heart and closeness with fellow players seem legitimate.
