Roster churn never really stops during an NFL season. Injuries, waiver claims and matchups force teams to shuffle the bottom of the depth chart almost every week, and the Browns have been busy on that front lately. With plenty of questions to answer before Sunday’s trip to New Orleans, Cleveland made 2 more moves Wednesday morning. One promoted a familiar rookie, and the other added a veteran running back who has already been with 3 organizations.
The Browns announced that they have signed former Patriots RB Haasan Haskins to the practice squad and TE Carsen Ryan to the active roster.
“We’ve signed TE Carsen Ryan from the practice squad to the active roster and signed RB Hassan Haskins to the practice squad,” Cleveland Browns wrote.

Haskins brings plenty of experience for a practice squad addition. He ran for more than 2,300 yards and 30 touchdowns across 3 seasons at Michigan and was one of the Big Ten’s top running backs in 2021. The Tennessee Titans drafted him in the 4th round in 2022.
Tennessee waived him in August 2024, and the Los Angeles Chargers claimed him the next day, reuniting him with his college coach, Jim Harbaugh. Over 2 seasons with the Chargers, Haskins ran for 136 yards and 2 touchdowns while catching 7 passes for 62 yards and another score.
His 2026 season has taken a few turns. Haskins signed with the New England Patriots in August but was released before the regular season started. New England brought him back to its practice squad in October after TreVeyon Henderson suffered a high ankle sprain, then let him go 4 days later.
In Cleveland, he adds depth to a running back room that has thinned out. Audric Estime was claimed off waivers by the Saints, the same team the Browns face Sunday, and the ground game managed just 34 yards in Pittsburgh. Haskins will not fix that, but he gives the Browns insurance behind Quinshon Judkins and can be elevated for game days if injuries pile up.
Carsen Ryan’s promotion caps a bumpy first season for the rookie tight end. Cleveland selected him out of BYU with the 248th overall pick in April after he caught 45 passes for 620 yards and 3 touchdowns in his lone season there.
Ryan was waived last month when the Browns activated Dillon Gabriel from injured reserve, and he returned on the practice squad shortly after. Now he is back on the active roster.
The move adds depth behind Harold Fannin Jr., who has been one of the most productive pieces of the offense. It also comes as the Browns have been linked to tight ends like Dallas Goedert and Charlie Kolar ahead of the November 10 trade deadline. Promoting Ryan does not rule out a trade, but it gives Todd Monken another option either way.
Neither move will grab headlines the way Wednesday’s Deshaun Watson update did. Both address depth, though, at a time when the 5-3 Browns need every healthy body they can find heading into New Orleans.
