Inactive lists rarely produce major surprises, but they do confirm what a team has been hinting at all week. They answer the final questions about injuries and show how a coaching staff plans to approach the game. For the Browns, the biggest storyline was already settled before the list came out. Still, a few names offered some clarity heading into New Orleans.
Deshaun Watson, Taylen Green, Justin Jefferson, Noah Igbinoghene, Parker Brailsford and Maliek Collins are all inactive for Sunday’s game.

Watson’s status was expected after Ian Rapoport reported Sunday morning that he had cleared the concussion protocol but would sit after practicing only once this week. That leaves Shedeur Sanders to make his first start of the season.
The quarterback setup behind Sanders is now clear. Green is listed as the emergency 3rd quarterback, which means he is technically inactive but can still enter the game if the other 2 quarterbacks are unable to play. That makes Dillon Gabriel the backup to Sanders after he returned from injured reserve last month.
Collins is the most significant injury loss. The veteran defensive tackle did not practice all week because of an elbow injury, and his absence comes at a tough time for a run defense that has allowed 341 rushing yards over the last 2 games. The Browns will need others on the interior to step up against a Saints offense that features Alvin Kamara.
There was good news on the list as well, mostly in the names that were left off it. Austin Barber, Harold Fannin Jr., Denzel Boston, Quincy Williams, Carson Schwesinger and Emmanuel McNeil-Warren all appeared on the injury report this week, and none of them are inactive.
Fannin and Boston being available gives Sanders his full group of weapons. Barber’s return keeps the starting offensive line intact after a week of uncertainty, and Brailsford being inactive suggests Elgton Jenkins is good to go at center after being limited earlier in the week with a knee injury.
With most of the lineup healthy, the Browns can focus on getting back on track. They enter the Superdome at 5-3, 1 game behind the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC North, and they are looking to avoid back-to-back losses heading into Tuesday’s trade deadline.
