The Cleveland Browns continue to face major questions at quarterback, and one prominent analyst isn’t holding back when it comes to how the organization has handled things.
Speaking recently, Nick Wright delivered a blunt assessment of the Browns’ ongoing commitment to Deshaun Watson.
“I say this as respectfully as I can: Jimmy Haslam is a menace that just causes chaos on teams on which he has influence and ownership,” Wright said. “Deshaun Watson, in the last five years, among 47 quarterbacks who’ve started 19 games, he’s basically the second- or third-worst in everything. He’s somewhere from 39th to 46th.”
“I don’t think he has a great chance to be the starter. I don’t think he’s a good player anymore. I don’t think all of a sudden he’s going to be the answer.”@getnickwright thinks giving Deshaun Watson a chance could cost the Browns another season: pic.twitter.com/K1HkxvqV9V

Wright didn’t stop there.
“I don’t think he has a great chance to be the starter. I don’t think he’s a good player anymore. I don’t think all of a sudden he’s going to be the answer,” he continued. “And I think that the Cleveland Browns not recognizing what the sunk-cost fallacy is has cost them multiple seasons.”
Wright believes continuing to build around that hope could create even more problems.
“If they ask Todd Monken to flirt with this insane idea that maybe Deshaun will be good, it will cost them this season as well,” Wright added.
That raises an important question: how long can the Browns continue to justify their investment in Watson?
If Watson can somehow turn things around, the Browns could stabilize one of the most important positions in football. But if he continues to struggle, the team may once again find itself in a cycle of uncertainty at quarterback.
And as Wright made clear, doubling down on that uncertainty could come at a significant cost.
