The Cleveland Browns came into the offseason with several priorities, but perhaps the most pressing was upgrading their offensive line. It’s no secret that the Browns’ offense was among the worst in the league in 2025, and their depleted line was a big reason for that.
Instead of waiting for the 2026 NFL Draft to fix these problems, the Browns have been more active than usual, adding players via free agency and trade. Whether those moves will be their only ones of the offseason remains to be seen. If fans and analysts have it their way, the team will add at least one starting-caliber lineman before the season starts.
While there’s been a lot of talk about their new players, the Browns do have some potentially viable players on the roster from last season that could make an impact in 2026. Among those athletes is LT Dawand Jones, who missed most of the 2025 campaign due to injury. People haven’t been talking about him much lately because of his injury, but a recently shared photo of him could spark some conversations.
“Looks like Browns LT Dawand Jones is shedding some serious weight. The picture on the left was posted on February 5th, the one on the right was posted today. Would be huge if he can come into camp conditioned and ready to start at LT,” Schaefer posted on X.

Jones is pictured on a scale, where he has lost some weight after gaining it during his injury rehab. The Browns haven’t added a true LT yet this offseason, and they might not need to if Jones is healthy and feeling ready to start Week 1.
There’s no telling what he’s going to look like after a knee injury, of course, and there could be some cause for concern moving forward, given that injuries have plagued him throughout his career. The Browns have already demonstrated this offseason that they’re not afraid to add players and be aggressive. We’ll know their thoughts on Jones sooner rather than later, as the NFL draft is just a few weeks away.
If they’re comfortable with him, they might wait until a later round to draft an offensive lineman, but if they take an OT early, it could spell the beginning of the end for Jones’ time as a starter with this organization.
