The Cleveland Browns’ upset win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday was a joyous moment for many reasons. Not only did the Browns earn a comeback victory over former quarterback Baker Mayfield, but they also got to stick it to rival coach-turned-pundit Mike Tomlin in the process.
In addition, Deshaun Watson showed he might be a functioning NFL QB after all, giving head coach Todd Monken another reason to keep being himself. However, not everyone was thrilled with what happened during the game.
Jerry Jeudy was seen visibly pouting on the bench, a demonstration of body language that has analyst Ken Carman warning of a big concern looming with the wide receiver, who is playing on a lucrative contract that does not expire until after next season.
“Do you think the camera just caught [Jerry Jeudy] at bad moments or was he pissed? You were so damn happy you got paid, so take your check. Your direct deposit comes today. Enjoy spending it. You wanted the money, you got the money,” Carman said.

As is the case with most top wide receivers around the NFL, when they don’t get the ball thrown their way, they don’t like it very much, and they aren’t shy about letting the world know. Jeudy was targeted just once on Sunday and did not catch a pass, leaving him with two receptions for 26 yards this season.
Granted, Jeudy was found by cameras just sitting on the bench, so it’s not like he was seen being demonstrative toward his teammates or coaches. But it’s still a bad look, especially from a veteran who is being counted on to lead a young group of wide receivers that includes rookies Denzel Boston and KC Concepcion.
It was thought that Watson’s presence may have been a bad example for the Browns’ young players, based on his troubling personal history and recent verbal battles with fans and the media. But it looks like Jeudy could become a bigger issue, especially if he turns his obvious displeasure into public comments.
Boston has emerged as a potential Rookie of the Year candidate with two long TD catches, and he and Concepcion are tied for the Cleveland lead in targets after two games. Jeudy is no better than the fourth receiving option right now, also behind tight end Harold Fannin Jr.
Head coach Todd Monken is not about to change his plan for anyone, and if Jeudy’s demeanor becomes a legitimate problem, he is more likely to be benched or traded than to be catered to.
