Former Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb made headlines this week when he officially signed a one-day contract to retire with the Cleveland Browns. It was a heartwarming gesture that officially kicks off the next phase of his career, and Browns fans will be hoping they’ll see a lot more of him going forward now that he’ll have some extra time on his hands.
It was great to hear that Chubb still views Cleveland fondly enough to sign the one-day contract. He was the heart and soul of some of the best Browns teams in recent memory, and he recently shared what his favorite memory is from his playing days.
Of all the memories he made, his favorite was beating the Pittsburgh Steelers in the playoffs.
“It was great to beat Pittsburgh in the playoffs. I think that whole, that whole COVID year was a mess, but that season was very fun to me, and I think just that season as a whole was just probably my favorite memory,” said Chubb.

It’s nice to even hear from Chubb at all since he was notoriously quiet during his playing days. He was a consummate professional who never stirred the pot or said anything even remotely controversial to the media. He was all about putting his head down and working, and Browns fans will certainly be hoping to hear more from him and learn more about his personality in retirement.
The playoff win over the Steelers in early 2021 was the peak of that era of Browns football. It felt like the tides were turning and with all the young stars like Chubb, Baker Mayfield, Jarvis Landry, Odell Beckham, and Myles Garrett, there was real hope that the curse was lifted and many more playoff wins would soon follow.
That unfortunately never happened, but if the Browns were only going to win one playoff game during that era, they picked a great way to do it. Destroying the Steelers in Pittsburgh was a cathartic experience for Browns fans all over the world and was a memory none of them will ever forget.
Chubb had 145 total yards and a touchdown in that game and he looks like he could still put up similar numbers if he put the pads back on this weekend.
