The Cleveland Browns lost more than a game against the New York Jets on Sunday. Multiple players left the game with injuries, some more serious than others.
The most significant injury is arguably to linebacker Carson Schwesinger, who could be seen struggling through the fourth quarter. Now, it has been revealed that Schwesinger suffered a sprained ankle, and his availability for the important Week 6 meeting against the Baltimore Ravens is in doubt.
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport provided the injury update.
“Browns star LB Carson Schwesinger suffered a Grade 1 ankle sprain in their loss against the #Jets, though the injury occurred before his strip sack of Geno Smith, sources say. He is not ruled out for this week, though availability depends on how he responds,” Rapoport posted.

Schwesinger had eight combined tackles in the 17-12 loss. That included his first sack of the season, which resulted in a turnover by Jets quarterback Geno Smith that gave the Browns the ball with a 12-10 lead and 4:20 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Unfortunately, the Browns were unable to move the ball, and Corey Bojorquez’s failure to handle a punt snap led to New York’s eventual game-winning touchdown. Schwesinger was seen in a walking boot after the game, so this news should not come as a huge surprise, but it may be the best-case scenario as he seems to have avoided a multi-week absence.
The Browns also lost wide receiver KC Concepcion to a scary head injury, and Tytus Howard was unable to finish the contest with a knee injury. In addition, running back Quinshon Judkins was seen wearing a walking boot afterward.
Schwesinger missed almost all of training camp with an undisclosed injury, so it is unclear if this current issue is related to that. Cleveland will certainly need him on the field against Baltimore, which ran for 208 yards in its 30-23 overtime victory against the Atlanta Falcons using backup quarterback Tyler Huntley.
Schwesinger has only missed one game in his brief NFL career, sitting out the season finale last season, so if there is any way he can get on the field, he will be ready to get the Browns back into the win column as soon as possible, hopefully next Sunday at Huntington Bank Field.
