There was a legitimate reason to fear that the Cleveland Browns had lost KC Concepcion for multiple weeks, if not the entire season, after seeing him laid out on the MetLife Stadium turf during their Week 5 game against the New York Jets. The rookie wide receiver took a vicious hit from Jets safety Minkah Fitzpatrick in the first quarter, which some people characterized as controversial.
Less than one week later, Concepcion has cleared concussion protocol and will be available when the Browns host the Baltimore Ravens in Week 6. It is an overwhelmingly positive development for both the player and the team.
Concepcion sent a two-word message about his return on social media, indicating that he’s ready to go with first place in the AFC North on the line.
“Immmm backkkkkk,” Concepcion posted.

Concepcion was attempting to catch a pass down the sideline from quarterback Deshaun Watson when Fitzpatrick came running across the field to break it up. Browns head coach Todd Monken, somewhat surprisingly, came out in support of the opponent, saying he did not consider Fitzpatrick a dirty player, perhaps overlooking the serious injury he caused to Browns running back Nick Chubb while a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
After starting slowly this season, he had his best game in Week 4 against the Steelers, with five catches for 64 yards. Fortunately, Concepcion may be no worse for wear.
A first-round pick from the 2026 NFL Draft, Concepcion is tied with fellow rookie Denzel Boston for the team lead with 29 targets. Concepcion has 18 catches for 149 yards, while Boston has 16 catches for 330 yards and three touchdowns, emerging as the current favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Boston was also on the injury report with a foot issue, but he has been removed from it leading up to the game. The dynamic pair will be vital to Watson’s success against the Ravens’ formidable defense, especially with the Browns’ continuing struggles in the running game.
Hopefully, Concepcion will not show any fear or ill effects from his ordeal and can contribute to a Cleveland victory.
