The Cleveland Browns are getting ready to face the Tennessee Titans in Week 7. It was thought that the Browns would encounter one of their former players in the contest, but that reportedly will not be the case.
Titans defensive tackle Jordan Elliott, who played for the Browns from 2020 through 2023, has been cut after an incident at the Tennessee facility last week. He was inactive for the Titans’ game this past Sunday.
Insider Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com provided the news.
“Ex-Browns DL won’t face his former team on Sunday,” Cabot posted.

The Titans also released a statement regarding the matter, although it did not give any details on what occurred.
“On Thursday, October 15, there was an incident at our team facility involving Jordan Elliott. Following our review of the incident, we have made the decision to release Elliott from our roster. We will have no further comment on the matter,” the statement read.
Elliott was a third-round pick by the Browns in the 2020 NFL Draft. He missed just one game in his four seasons and started 31 of 34 games in his final two years.
His best season was in 2022, when he had 36 combined tackles, 2.0 sacks, five tackles for loss, three quarterback hits, and two passes defended, starting all 17 games. In 2023, he had a career-high 2.5 sacks.
Elliott left the Browns following that season to sign with the San Francisco 49ers as a free agent. He played two seasons for them, including last year under defensive coordinator Robert Saleh, who is now Tennessee’s head coach. Elliott signed a two-year, $8 million contract with the Titans this offseason.
This season, Elliott played in five games for Tennessee, starting one, and had 11 combined tackles. Without Elliott in the lineup on Sunday, the Titans won their first game of the year, coming back in the second half for a 26-20 victory on the road against the Indianapolis Colts.
It is usually an advantage to have a former player from an opposing team to provide insight on an upcoming game. The Titans still have former Browns offensive tackle James Hudson III and guard Garrett Dellinger on their roster, and linebacker Mohamoud Diabate on their practice squad.
However, Cleveland will not have to worry about facing Elliott in the game at Nissan Stadium on Sunday, based on these unusual circumstances.
