Shedeur Sanders of the Cleveland Browns recently hired an agent for the first time in his young NFL career. Given everything going on with his team and the uncertainty about his place within it, that raised a lot of questions.
However, Sanders hasn’t been very happy about those questions and pushed back against them recently. Chris Simms said the questions are fair.
He spoke about the situation and suggested that it could be because Sanders isn’t content in Cleveland.
“What’s the big deal if you hired an agent? Oh, well, because you hired him, you know you want to get out of there and you’re not happy, and you didn’t realize what you needed to say or whatever, so you kind of exposed yourself,” Simms said.
Sanders’ brush-off regarding the curiosity about his agent caught a lot of attention. He was in a tricky position. An agent handles contracts, trades, and the careers of NFL players. To many, hiring one seems like a move made before a player moves to a new team. It has happened before.
And this all comes at a time when people aren’t sure about Sanders’ position within the team. He has been riding the bench since the start of the season, and there have been near-constant rumors of him being traded. There has also been speculation about his satisfaction with being a backup player. No one would be shocked if he wasn’t happy with the role he’s been given.
The Browns’ next game will reportedly see Sanders starting for the first time this season. This could put him in a better spot with the Browns, and we could soon hear people calling on Todd Monken to give him more opportunities.
Or the upcoming game could potentially raise Sanders’ trade value if he wants to move to a new franchise soon. This will be a crucial moment for him, his career, and his future.
Many people, including his brand-new agent, will definitely be paying close attention.
