Now that Shedeur Sanders has telegraphed a possible intention to be traded by the Cleveland Browns, it’s time to start looking around the NFL for a possible landing spot. It might be difficult to find a willing partner at this point in the season, but there could be some intriguing options in the remaining weeks before the deadline.
Sanders hired an agent this week after not having one during his brief NFL career. It is believed it is an effort to investigate trade possibilities, as the quarterback may realize he has no path to playing time waiting behind Deshaun Watson.
Analyst Aaron Goldhammer named a surprising trade destination for Sanders, saying the Denver Broncos might want an upgrade over Bo Nix.
“Nobody got a closer seat to the Shedeur Sanders college experience than the Broncos ownership. Sean Payton was there. I don’t know what’s going on with Bo Nix, but it’s a mess,” Goldhammer said.

Sanders signed with Adie von Gontard of Young Money APAA Sports. According to Goldhammer, the agent is based in Dallas but has Colorado ties, which is where Sanders played his final two college seasons.
Despite earning an overtime victory against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday, the Broncos’ offense did very little with Nix at quarterback, the latest in a string of poor performances by the No. 12 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He completed 17 of 27 pass attempts for 107 yards, resulting in a QBR of 29.0. That was after he posted a QBR of 27.3 in a win against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 5.
Jarrett Stidham is Denver’s backup, with Sam Ehlinger as its third QB. With Nix possibly injured and in danger of being benched, Sanders could be a better option for Denver, especially if Payton can find a way to get the best out of him. But it should also be noted that the head coach has presided over Nix’s significant regression this season.
Otherwise, the market for Sanders may be thin. It is worth remembering that every team in the league passed on him multiple times in the 2025 NFL Draft, before Cleveland finally ended his fall in the fifth round.
Sanders has not been given much of a chance to prove any of those doubters wrong, so it may take an injury to push a team into making a move for him.
