The Cleveland Browns got some disappointing news this week when they learned that defensive tackle Maliek Collins would be unable to play against the New Orleans Saints because of an elbow injury. It was the latest setback for the interior of the line this season.
Fortunately, the Browns have some reinforcements on hand, and they are prepared to put them to use. Sam Kamara has filled in admirably when called upon and will be used again on Sunday.
According to Camryn Justice of News 5 Cleveland, the Browns announced two roster moves ahead of the Saints game, elevating Kamar and tight end Carsen Ryan from the practice squad.
“The #Browns have signed DT Sam Kamara to the active roster from the practice squad. The team also signed TE Carsen Ryan to the practice squad and elevated him for tomorrow’s game,” Justice wrote.

With injuries also sidelining defensive tackles Mason Graham, Mike Hall Jr., and Kalia Davis, Kamara has appeared in three of Cleveland’s eight games so far. He has 10 combined tackles and his first NFL sack.
This will be his 22nd game in his five seasons with Cleveland. Because he has been elevated from the practice squad for a fourth time, Kamara will be added to the active 53-man roster.
Ryan has also been the subject of some roster gymnastics as a seventh-round pick from the 2026 NFL Draft. He was waived from the practice squad last month to make room for Dillon Gabriel when the quarterback had to be activated from injured reserve, and has been back and forth in the weeks since then.
Ryan has played just two offensive snaps, with 85 on special teams, appearing in seven games this season. He could be asked to do a bit more, with tight end Harold Fannin Jr. entering the game after being listed on the injury report with a groin injury.
Of course, there are not the biggest lineup changes for the Browns entering this game. Shedeur Sanders will take over as Cleveland’s starting quarterback after Deshaun Watson was placed in concussion protocol this week.
Watson has been cleared to play, but head coach Todd Monken has not yet decided if he will be the backup to Sanders on Sunday.
