The Cleveland Browns have a handful of candidates for team MVP so far in this surprising season. At the top of the list could be quarterback Deshaun Watson, who has led four game-winning drives despite some pedestrian statistics overall.
But Watson wouldn’t be in position to lead those drives if the Browns defense didn’t keep them in striking distance while the offense got its act together. That is why the award is likely to be given to someone on that side of the ball.
With that in mind, analyst Mike Lucas is making linebacker Carson Schwesinger his vote for Browns MVP through six weeks of the 2026 season.
“Who is the MVP of the Browns through 6 weeks? Lot of good candidates, but I’d vote for Carson Schwesinger,” Lucas posted.

Schwesinger is coming off his most impactful game of the season, which is even more impressive considering it came while playing with an injured ankle. He posted a season-high 13 combined tackles against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 6, which was more than double that of most of his teammates.
A second-round pick from the 2025 NFL Draft who won Defensive Rookie of the Year, Schwesinger is tied for fifth in the NFL with 56 combined tackles. That is just three tackles from second place.
Cornerback Denzel Ward also has a strong case, as the veteran has been playing at an All-Pro level. Defensive tackle Mason Graham may have been the leading candidate, with four sacks in the first three games, but he has been sidelined with a leg injury and will have to work his way back to form.
On offense, rookie wide receiver Denzel Boston could be the frontrunner, even ahead of Watson. He leads the NFL with an average of 20.3 yards per catch, on 16 receptions for 330 yards with three long touchdowns.
Although an offensive tackle is unlikely to be so honored, rookie Spencer Fano is also having a very good season. His pass-blocking metrics rank among the best in the league, which is notable for a lineman of any experience.
Each of them will continue to make an impression, picking up in Week 7 against the Tennessee Titans.
