Jerry Jeudy will remain one of the hottest names on the trade rumor mill until the NFL deadline passes after the games of Week 9. That is due to changes on the Cleveland Browns and around the league so far this season.
The veteran wide receiver has taken a clear back seat to rookies KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston in the Browns’ passing game. So, it might be in the best interest of both sides for them to move on from each other, with several other teams having a need at the position.
With that in mind, Bleacher Report analyst Gary Davenport has named the New York Giants as the best landing spot for Jeudy, based on his previous connection to former Browns quarterback Jameis Winston.
“The New York Giants didn’t expect to necessarily be contenders this season, especially after quarterback Jaxson Dart was lost for the season. But at 3-1-1, they hold a 1.5-game lead atop the NFC East. The Giants could use an upgrade at their second receiver spot over Darnell Mooney, and Jeudy has familiarity with current Giants quarterback Jameis Winston. Winston started seven games for the Browns in 2024, and he and Jeudy had a strong rapport over that stretch,” Davenport wrote.
Even with the salary cap ramifications for Cleveland, this proposal makes a good deal of sense. The Giants may be willing to pay a higher price than other teams based on their needs and the Jeudy-Winston relationship.
With Malik Nabers as its clear No. 1 wideout, New York is struggling to find a complement for him, although tight end Isaiah Likely has a huge role in the Giants’ passing game. Mooney and rookie Malachi Fields have not added much, combining for 18 receptions in five games.
Jeudy has been a non-factor for Cleveland, other than two fourth-quarter catches on the final drive in their 27-24 win against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 4. He is fifth on the Browns with 18 targets in five games, and sixth with eight receptions for 81 yards.
That is a long way from the career season Jeudy posted for Cleveland in the 2024 campaign, when Winston started from Week 8 through Week 15 (with a bye included). In those games, Jeudy had 49 receptions for 786 yards, including a nine-catch, 235-yard outing and another with 11 catches for 108 yards.
With no real need for Jeudy now or moving forward, the Browns should explore the market for him, and they could find a very willing partner in the Giants.
