Practice squad moves rarely make headlines, but they often reveal where a team sees its biggest needs. Coaching staffs use those spots to add depth, bring in fresh bodies for scout-team work and keep insurance close in case injuries strike. When a team makes several moves in one day, it is usually responding to something it saw on film. The Browns shuffled their practice squad on Tuesday following a rough outing against the New York Jets.
Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reported the moves.
“#Browns have signed TE Devin Culp and G Vershon Lee to the practice squad and released CB Myles Bryant and WR James Proche II from the practice squad,” Cabot wrote.

The addition of Vershon Lee stands out first. The Browns allowed 8 sacks in Sunday’s loss, and the offensive line has drawn heavy criticism. Lee, a 6-foot-4, 318-pound guard out of South Carolina, gives Cleveland another body on the interior as it searches for answers up front.
Lee appeared in 1 game with the Minnesota Vikings in 2025 and was released from the Atlanta Falcons’ practice squad last week, so this represents another chance for him to find a stable home.
Devin Culp brings a different skill set. The former 7th-round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers caught 6 passes for 94 yards and a touchdown over 2 seasons, and his athleticism made him an intriguing prospect coming out of Washington.
He will also find a familiar program in the building. Culp played his college ball at Washington, the same school that produced Denzel Boston.
Adding a tight end makes sense given how the passing game looked without KC Concepcion. Harold Fannin Jr. went without a catch on 3 targets against the Jets, and the Browns could use another option who can work the middle of the field.
To make room, the Browns parted ways with 2 veterans. James Proche II had only rejoined the practice squad last week after previous stints in Cleveland in 2023 and 2024, and he has 34 career catches for 364 yards with the Baltimore Ravens, Browns and Tennessee Titans.
Myles Bryant also departs after 6 seasons with the New England Patriots and Houston Texans. The veteran defensive back has 4 career interceptions and 254 tackles in 77 games, but with rookie Emmanuel McNeil-Warren emerging in the secondary, his spot became expendable as the team prioritized other positions.
None of these moves will grab national attention, but they show the Browns are actively looking for solutions after Sunday’s loss.
