Browns Bring Back A Familiar Face At Cornerback

The Cleveland Browns had holes all over the offense heading into this past offseason, and the front office did a great job filling those gaps by bringing in five new starters on the offensive line, two exciting rookie receivers, and an entirely new coaching staff. The moves are starting to pay some dividends, as the Browns will head home for Week 3 at 1-1 following an impressive 23-19 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

While the offense was completely overhauled, Cleveland returned mostly the same defense as last season aside from trading Myles Garrett for Jared Verse. It put the team in a position to be able to maintain some consistency, but one area that didn’t quite get the love it needed was the lack of the depth in the secondary, as cornerback is still thin with very little to point to behind Tyson Campbell, Denzel Ward, and Myles Harden.

GM Andrew Berry did a little something to help alleviate that issue on Wednesday by bringing back a familiar face. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler shared that the browns have reunited with D’Angelo Ross and added him to the practice squad.

It’s not exactly a groundbreaking move since Ross was originally cut by the Browns eight days ago, but it’s nice to have him back. In a corresponding move, fellow corner Myles Bryant was released.

The 29-year-old Ross has been bouncing around the league ever since he went undrafted out of New Mexico in 2019 and signed an UDFA contract with the New England Patriots. He spent the next three years bouncing back and forth between their practice squad and active roster before spending the next few years with the Miami Dolphins and Houston Texans, where he played in three games in 2025 without recording any stats.

Overall, he has appeared in 37 games in the NFL, including eight in Cleveland, so if Todd Monken feels the need to call his number sometime soon, the fans should feel confident that he’ll be ready.
