The Cleveland Browns have their biggest game in years on Sunday when they are set to take on a fellow 5-2 AFC North opponent in the Pittsburgh Steelers with first place in the division on the line. The Browns will also be carrying the weight of a 22-game regular-season losing streak in Pittsburgh with them, not to mention the fact that the Browns have a chance to sweep the Steelers for the first time in 1988 after beating them a few weeks ago.
Cleveland is in decent health heading into the matchup, but it never hurts to look for reinforcements. The front office did just that by working out five players.
ESPN’s Daniel Oyefusi shared that the Browns worked out five potential practice squad additions, all of whom are offensive players. The five players are tackle Austin Blaske, wide receivers Xavier Weaver and Brady Boyd, guard C.J. Hanson, and center Jacob Rizy.
“The Browns worked out five players today, including former Colorado WR Xavier Weaver,” Oyefusi said.

The offensive line reinforcements are necessary due to right tackle Tytus Howard getting banged up in last week’s win over the Tennessee Titans. He is listed as questionable with a concussion for Sunday, and if he is unable to go, it will likely be Dawand Jones in his place.
Weaver is among the most notable of the names on this list. He had spent the past two years on the Arizona Cardinals practice squad before being placed on injured reserve and cut just before this season began. During those two years, he did manage to crack the main roster and caught seven passes for 67 yards in his 12 games of action.
The main reason why his name sticks out is that he was Shedeur Sanders’ No. 1 receiver at Colorado in 2023. Weaver had his best year in college with Sanders under center, posting 68 catches for 908 yards and four touchdowns, so it would be interesting if the Browns decide to reunite him with his former college QB.
Teams hold these workouts all the time and they don’t often amount to much, but Weaver coming to town would certainly be fun.
