Practice squad elevations often reveal more than an injury report. Teams only call up extra bodies when they believe they need them, and the positions they target can hint at which injured players may not be ready to go. That makes Saturday transactions worth watching closely. The Browns made a pair of moves ahead of Sunday’s game that point to continued concerns along the defensive line.
Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN reported the moves.
“For a second straight week, the Browns elevated DT Sam Kamara and DT Chris Williams from the practice squad. That could signal Mason Graham isn’t yet ready to return,” Oyefusi wrote.

The elevations come as the Browns try to piece together an interior line that has been hit hard by injuries. Kalia Davis and Mike Hall Jr. have both been ruled out for Sunday, and Mason Graham is listed as questionable after returning to practice on a limited basis Friday for the first time since injuring his knee and ankle.
Calling up 2 defensive tackles for the 2nd straight week suggests the Browns are preparing to be without Graham again. Earlier reporting indicated he could return for this game, but the team appears to be taking a cautious approach.
Maliek Collins provides some relief. He was limited in practice on Thursday and Friday with a foot injury but did not receive a game designation, so the veteran who led the team with 1.5 sacks against the New York Jets is expected to play.
Sam Kamara made the most of his opportunity last week, recording a sack in the loss to the Jets. Another strong showing could help him earn a more permanent role, especially since practice squad players can only be elevated 3 times in a season before a team must sign them to the active roster.
The rest of the injury report offered mixed news. KC Concepcion practiced fully on Friday and carries no designation after working through the concussion protocol, while Grant Delpit, Tytus Howard and Tylan Wallace were also full participants. Quinshon Judkins, Carson Schwesinger and Derek Barnett are questionable, and Dylan Sampson, Teven Jenkins and Dillon Gabriel have been ruled out.
The biggest development came from the other sideline. The Baltimore Ravens ruled out Lamar Jackson with an ankle injury, along with center Cam Jurgens, removing 2 key pieces from their offense.
That changes the complexion of Sunday’s game. Without Jackson, the Ravens are likely to lean heavily on Derrick Henry and their running game, which makes the depth Cleveland added on the interior even more important. If Kamara and Williams can help hold the line of scrimmage, the Browns have a real opportunity to bounce back from last week’s loss and gain ground in the AFC North.
