Practice squad moves rarely grab headlines, but they often show where a team is concerned. Clubs use those spots to plug holes, bring in fresh bodies for the scout team and keep emergency options close in case injuries hit. When a team shuffles several players at once, the positions involved usually tell the story. The Browns made one of those overhauls on Tuesday.
Camryn Justice of News 5 Cleveland shared the moves.
The Browns signed guard Austin Blaske, receiver Xavier Guillory and tackle Xavier Truss to the practice squad. They released tackle Andrew Coker, guard Vershon Lee and punter Wes Pahl from the practice squad, and released receiver Bub Means from practice squad injured.

The offensive line is the clear focus. The Browns swapped out 2 linemen for 2 new ones just days after Deshaun Watson was sacked 8 times in the 27-6 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Coker and Lee lasted only a few weeks, after both were signed in October as the Browns searched for depth up front.
Truss brings the most NFL experience of the new group. The 6-foot-7, 320-pound lineman played at Georgia and appeared in 7 games for the New Orleans Saints last season. That timing could be useful, since the Browns visit New Orleans on Sunday and Truss is familiar with many of the players they will face.
Blaske adds more size on the interior. The 6-foot-5, 310-pound guard is still looking for his first regular-season NFL action, but he gives the Browns another body behind a line that has dealt with injuries all season.
Guillory is a familiar name. He was among the 8 players the Browns worked out in late October, and the coaches apparently liked what they saw. In 2 seasons at Arizona State, he caught 43 passes for 565 yards and 6 touchdowns, including 5 scores as a senior. His signing comes as Means leaves after landing on the practice squad injured with a knee issue last month.
Releasing Pahl ends a short stay. The Browns added the former Oklahoma State punter in October, but Corey Bojorquez has stayed healthy and continued holding for Andre Szmyt, so a 2nd punter on the practice squad became a luxury.
None of these moves change the outlook for Sunday, but they show the Browns know where the depth is thinnest. The protection problems in Pittsburgh were impossible to ignore, and with the November 10 trade deadline 1 week away, Andrew Berry may not be finished adding help up front.
