The Cleveland Browns rebuilt their offensive line this offseason, and a huge component of that plan was using Spencer Fano at left tackle. Even though he was the No. 9 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, it was considered something of a risk, as he played on the right side in his final two college seasons.
He would be moving to one of the most difficult positions in the NFL, especially for a rookie. But now, just four games into his career, Fano is playing like he’s been doing it for years.
The Browns’ rookie left tackle is quietly becoming something special, as he just had his second game without allowing a single quarterback pressure to the opponent.
“I don’t know how you couldn’t be impressed with Browns LT Spencer Fano. Zero pressures allowed on 37 pass-blocking snaps via PFF. It was his second game this season with zero pressures allowed,” Marcus Mosher posted.

Fano’s performance in Cleveland’s 27-24 victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night is even more impressive when you consider the formidable opposition he was facing. T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith are considered to be among the best pass-rush duos in the NFL, but they managed only a sack by Watt on Deshaun Watson’s 35 dropbacks.
Fano also did not allow a pressure in Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a 23-19 Cleveland win. According to Pro Football Focus, he has allowed nine combined pressures in the Browns’ two other games, but they have resulted in just one sack of Watson. Fano also has just one penalty (holding) in his 179 snaps.
Cleveland’s offensive line as a whole has allowed Watson to perform much better than most people anticipated. With backup center Luke Wypler taking over for Elgton Jenkins, who was inactive while in concussion protocol, it was able to give Watson enough time to throw for 181 yards in the first half as the Browns built a 21-7 lead.
Then, with the game tied in the fourth quarter, the QB was able to complete four of five passes to set up a game-winning field goal, even though he did take one of his two sacks to lengthen the attempt. Fortunately, that did not bother Andre Szmyt, who was able to make a career-long 56-yarder.
Fano’s performance so far bodes well not only for the rest of this season but also for the years ahead, as the Browns seem to have found a fixture at one of the league’s most important positions.
