With several corresponding roster questions still lingering following Sunday’s cutdown day, including the surprise placement of Dillon Gabriel on injured reserve, Jackson pointed specifically to the tight end room as an area where Cleveland will likely look to add reinforcements in the coming days, while also flagging potential additional moves along the defensive line and at cornerback.

The tight end room has been a point of concern dating back to earlier in camp, given the wave of injuries. That concern only increased with the news that rookie Joe Royer was placed on the reserve non-football illness list, leaving Harold Fannin Jr. as the clear headliner of a group that now includes Carsen Ryan and Blake Whiteheart as the primary depth options on the initial 53.
Cornerback Michael Coats Jr. stood as the only undrafted rookie to make the initial 53-man roster. Coats has consistently impressed throughout camp regardless of the setting, and his inclusion on the final roster reflects the kind of quiet, steady production that can carry a long shot into a legitimate roster spot.
As the Browns move through the days following their initial cutdown, Cleveland’s roster heading into the opener against Jacksonville may look somewhat different than the 53 names officially announced on Sunday.
