The NFL trade deadline is right around the corner, and the Cleveland Browns might actually be buyers this time around. Fans are used to the Browns being sellers, but a hot start to the season might actually make them add talent this time around.
The Browns have also been rumored to be interested in multiple players, but nothing will likely happen until closer to the deadline. One trade partner to watch for is the Browns making a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars. They’ve been partners in the past, and they could potentially be brewing up another deal.
“He likes to trade with Jacksonville, Andrew does. So keep an eye on that,” Terry Pluto said. “I think he’s made at least three trades with Jacksonville, not just the big one on draft day.”
The Browns and Jaguars have made some notable trades together over the last few years. The biggest trade was when the Browns traded the No. 2 overall pick and two other picks to Jacksonville for the 5th overall pick in 2025. Cleveland also received a second-round pick and a 2026 first-round pick in that deal. They used that pick to select defensive tackle Mason Graham, while the Jags used the No. 2 overall pick on Travis Hunter.
The two teams also made another trade that season, but it wasn’t as big of a deal. The Browns traded defensive back Greg Newsome II to the Jags in exchange for defensive back Tyson Campbell. This was a rare player-for-player trade, but it seems to have worked out for the Browns. So far this season, Campbell has recorded 25 tackles, one tackle for loss, and two passes defended in five games.
It’ll be interesting to see if the two teams can once again come together on another deal this year. Right now, both teams are contending, so it’s not an ideal pairing, but that shouldn’t rule out a potential deal. The Jaguars have a surplus of wide receivers, so maybe these teams deal from a place of strength to help an area of weakness. Andrew Berry clearly has a good relationship with the Jags, so fans should watch for a potential deal in the coming weeks.
