Some NFL rookies rise to the occasion when they enter the league and make a seamless transition from college to professional football. Others stumble and fall under the immense pressure.
Even the most skillful young players don’t always have what it takes to thrive. Cleveland Browns wide receiver Denzel Boston has had a terrific start to the season and was a huge part of the team’s win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Speaking on the Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show, Jason Lloyd was excited and passionate about Boston and had a suitable word to describe him.
“Phenomenal. He’s everything that we thought he was going to be. He’s big. He’s strong. He’s smooth. The way he operates across the field. The way he can break tackles. Great hands. Great frame. There’s nothing bad you could say about the guy. Denzel Boston is the reason why Jerry Jeudy has gone MIA,” Lloyd said.

Boston has racked up more than 150 yards in just two weeks and has brought in two touchdowns. He hasn’t had much time in the league but has already shown that he feels at home on the field.
Lloyd noted two important points: firstly, it feels like the Browns are losing space for Jerry Jeudy because of how well Boston is playing. Fans knew this was a possibility during the offseason. They understood that if the team’s new wide receivers played well, it could push out Jeudy and throw his future into question. Sure enough, that is what’s happening.
Secondly, it seems that Boston and quarterback Deshaun Watson have a strong working relationship. Watson likes targeting Boston, and it’s paying off for the team. With Watson certainly being the team’s starting QB in Week 3, it’ll be interesting to see how much attention Boston gets again.
In just two weeks, Boston has established himself as one of the most talked-about rookies in the league. If he can keep performing well, continue building his chemistry with Watson, and earn a few more touchdowns, he’ll be impossible to ignore.
The Browns still have plenty of problems that need to be addressed, but Boston is a terrific addition who could be a future superstar.
