Jared Verse came into this season with the impossible task of replacing Myles Garrett, who the Cleveland Browns traded to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for Verse and plenty of draft capital this offseason. It was always unreasonable to expect one player to make up for Garrett his 23 sacks, but so far it has been a joint effort, and the Browns haven’t missed a beat.
Cleveland is second in the NFL with 19 sacks thus far, though Verse doesn’t have one yet. Over half of those have come from Mason Graham, Maliek Collins, and Isaiah McGuire, so the team is having no issues getting to the quarterback and it’s only a matter of time before Verse gets on the board.
Verse touched on not having a sack yet during Thursday’s media session and doesn’t sound concerned at all. He put the blame on himself and said he needs to do more, but doesn’t sound overly concerned about the goose egg.
“There ain’t nothing to be upset about. Obviously, I want the stats and everything like that, but that’s just a testament to myself. I gotta work hard and I gotta do more,” Verse said.

Overall, Verse has been consistent and impactful even without taking down the quarterback yet. It can’t be easy adjusting to a new team and a new system, so as long as he stays healthy and keeps bringing his energy and leadership to the field, the sacks will show up eventually.
This trade couldn’t be going much better for the Browns so far since Garrett hasn’t even played for the Rams yet. The Rams are also 2-4 and getting more injured every week, so the first-round pick they owe the Browns is looking like it could be much better than originally expected.
Maybe Sunday will be the day he gets on the board. The Browns have a winnable matchup at the 1-5 Tennessee Titans up next, and Dan Moore at left tackle can be prone to getting beat.
