Cleveland Browns pass rusher Jared Verse talked all kinds of trash heading into last week’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. It didn’t turn out well for him, as he was virtually invisible in the game and his team lost its 23rd in a row in Pittsburgh in the regular season.
To make matters worse, there was one little loose end to tie up before Verse and his team can officially move on to Sunday where a tasty matchup against the New Orleans Saints awaits. Unfortunately, the most memorable part of Verse’s afternoon last Sunday was when Mason McCormick dumped him on his head, and the NFL recently swooped in to make matters worse.
Mike Florio of NBC Sports shared that McCormick will not be fined for the play.
“It’s unclear why the league didn’t fine McCormick. The league never explains the basis for not imposing a financial penalty on a given player,” Florio wrote.

Verse wasn’t shy about his displeasure with his teammates for not jumping in and having his back. Starting a melee wouldn’t have helped anything, but it would have been nice to see someone jump in; however, if you watch the clip, there is no Browns player with an eye on Verse getting flipped over.
At least this whole thing can now be put to bed and everyone can move on. It’s time to focus on New Orleans and Verse needs to start making a bigger impact after being humbled so loudly against Pittsburgh. He still doesn’t have a sack and he has now brought a lot of attention to that fact after his antics last week.
Most importantly, Verse wasn’t hurt, and he is still yet to miss a game in his young career. Hopefully he is feeling healthy enough to get to Tyler Shough on Sunday and can finally get his first sack in a Browns uniform.
