Not every draft pick finds his footing with the team that selected him. Roster crunches, injuries and shifting priorities can push young players out the door before they ever get a real chance to establish themselves. Many of them resurface elsewhere, hoping a new environment will unlock what never quite clicked. One former Browns receiver is getting that opportunity now.
Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported that the Raiders are signing former Browns WR Jamari Thrash.
“The #Raiders are signing WR Jamari Thrash to the practice squad. Waived off IR by the #Browns last month, the 2024 fifth-round pick is healthy and back with a new team,” Garafolo wrote.

Jamari Thrash’s time in Cleveland ended last month when the Browns waived him from injured reserve. Now healthy, he will join the Las Vegas Raiders’ practice squad as he tries to work his way back onto an active roster.
The Browns selected Thrash in the 5th round of the 2024 draft, 156th overall, after a productive college career at Georgia State and Louisville. He never carved out a consistent role, catching 13 passes for 129 yards across 18 games over 2 seasons.
His 2nd year was more encouraging. Thrash caught 10 of his 15 targets for 107 yards in 2025 and made the first start of his career, showing more reliability than he did as a rookie.
The receiver room changed dramatically around him this offseason. The Browns invested premium picks in Denzel Boston and KC Concepcion, Isaiah Bond pushed for snaps and Jerry Jeudy remained under contract. With that many receivers ahead of him, landing on injured reserve all but sealed his fate in Cleveland.
Las Vegas offers Thrash a fresh start. The Raiders are building around No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza, and an offense in transition could open doors for a receiver willing to prove himself on the practice squad.
For the Browns, his departure is another reminder of how quickly a roster turns over under Andrew Berry. Late-round picks have to make an impression fast, and with Boston and Bond emerging, Cleveland appears to have found the young receiving talent it once hoped Thrash would become.
