Now that Shedeur Sanders will not be the Cleveland Browns’ starting quarterback on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers, he posted to his YouTube channel to make sure people don’t forget about him. It is a collection of his interactions with young students, along with a workout and throwing session.
If it were up to the kids, there is no doubt who would be taking the field as the Browns’ QB1 on Sunday. But head coach Todd Monken had other ideas, and the reception for Watson remains very much in doubt, even after he led Cleveland to a comeback upset win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2.
Sanders released the new video of his off-day activities ahead of Sunday’s game, reaching out to his 172,000 subscribers.
“From giving back to the community to getting reps with his former teammates, this is a behind-the-scenes look at how Shedeur spends his day away from the field,” the description read.
After checking out some sunglass samples, Sanders visited a school in East Cleveland. There, wearing a sweatshirt with his face on it, he handed out backpacks sporting his $2 logo, while some of the students mimicked his wristwatch celebration. He was also seen taking photos with cafeteria staff.
Speaking to reporters about that part of the city, Sanders very well could have been talking about himself.
“Sometimes you can believe what they say online, sometimes you can’t. Most of the time you can’t,” Sanders said.
Later on, after an individual workout, Sanders took part in a throwing session at Strongville High School. His receiver was Jimmy Horn Jr., a former teammate at the University of Colorado who was recently signed to the Browns’ practice squad. Interestingly, it was the Panthers who let go of Horn earlier this month.
Of course, none of this will matter come Sunday against the Panthers, when the Browns try to win their second game in a row and climb above .500 for the first time since they ended the 2023 season at 11-6.
