He has continued putting together efficient practices even during the stretch when Watson has commanded the bulk of first-team opportunities, including a clean showing without a turnover just days ago against a Browns defense that has intercepted opposing quarterbacks at a historic rate this camp. Sanders’ presence off the field simply reflects the reality of his position as one of the more recognizable and closely followed young players in the sport, a spotlight that existed well before he ever arrived in Cleveland and one that will likely continue regardless of how the quarterback battle ultimately resolves.
