Trade rumors rarely move in a straight line. One report says a player is available, another says the team has no interest in moving him, and the truth usually lands somewhere in between until the deadline forces a decision. That is where things stand with one Browns veteran. The latest look at the trade market even identified 2 contenders who could be interested.
Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report ranked Jerry Jeudy 2nd on his trade block big board entering Week 5. Knox pegged Jeudy’s projected trade value at a conditional 2027 5th-round pick and named the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles as potential suitors.
“Jeudy is being ‘squeezed out’ of the offense by promising rookies KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston, who have quickly emerged as go-to targets. While Jeudy did play a role in Cleveland’s latest win, he’s caught just five of eight targets for 62 yards on the season. A 1,200-yard receiver and a Pro Bowler in 2024, Jeudy should interest receiver-needy teams, as should his 2026 base salary of $1.5 million,” Knox wrote.
Both teams make sense on paper. Kansas City and Philadelphia are perennial contenders with championship expectations, and adding a former Pro Bowl receiver for a late-round pick is the type of low-risk move teams in that position make every fall.
His contract makes him easy to absorb. With a base salary of just $1.5 million this season, Jeudy would fit under almost any team’s cap, and his 2027 salary is not guaranteed, giving an acquiring team a simple way out after the season.
The question is whether the Browns are willing to sell. Knox noted that Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reported the team is not interested in trading Jeudy right now, which contradicts Adam Schefter’s report that he could be had before the deadline.
There is a logical case for Cabot’s side. A conditional 5th-round pick is a modest return for a 27-year-old receiver who topped 1,200 yards just 2 seasons ago, and a first-place team may value his experience more than a late-round selection.
Jeudy also showed on Thursday that he can still contribute. He caught all 3 of his targets for 36 yards in the win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, coming through with key grabs in a game decided in the final seconds.
Depth is another consideration. Trading Jeudy would leave the Browns leaning entirely on Boston and Concepcion with very little experience behind them.
Still, his limited role is hard to ignore. Jeudy has been targeted only 8 times through 4 games, and the rookies have firmly taken over as the top options in the passing game.
With the November 10 deadline approaching, the Browns have a choice to make. Keeping Jeudy gives a contender a veteran safety net, while moving him could give him a fresh start somewhere he is needed more. If the offers stay at the level Knox projected, Cleveland may decide the insurance is worth more than the pick.
