The Cleveland Browns want their offensive line to look a lot better in 2026, so they brought in top-tier talent to make that happen. According to players on the team, they made the right choice. Austin Barber recently sat down to discuss offensive line coach George Warhop.
Barber stated that Warhop has a tough approach to coaching, but it is exactly what the team needs at this moment.
“I still think [George Warhop’s] tough, but from the stories I’ve heard, he’s toned it down a little bit. He’s still one of those hard-nosed coaches that I like to be coached by. He wants exactly what he wants. He’s gonna tell you exactly what he wants, and you gotta go do it. If you’re exact, he’s gonna enjoy it. If you’re not exact, he’s gonna get into you a little bit,” Barber said.

This isn’t Warhop’s first job in the NFL. In fact, the opposite is true because he’s been all over the league since starting his career in professional football back in the 1980s. He has worked for the Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers, Houston Texans, and others.
Actually, this is Warhop’s second stint with the Browns, as he was their offensive line coach back in 2009 under head coach Eric Mangini. He is now coming back to the team that is looking for a new identity after a very busy offseason.
Barber says that Warhop has toned things down, but he still sounds tough. However, that may not be a bad thing. This is an offensive line that really needs to get its act together, and Warhop doesn’t seem like someone who will go easy on them. Perhaps that is exactly what’s needed.
The Browns need a plan if they wish to move forward, and Warhop clearly has one. He knows what he wants, and he is demanding that his players give it to him.
His intense attitude could be key to a better offensive line in 2026.
