The Cleveland Browns front office made a point of revamping the offensive line this offseason. They’ve upgraded the o-line both through free agency and the draft. With that being said, this is still a fairly young offensive line that could still learn a thing or two.
Recently, Browns offensive line coach George Warhop spoke about who the players can reach out to and learn from during training camp.
“If any of those guys can talk to Joe [Thomas], it’s a great resource because Joe was the ultimate pro. Great work ethic. Great study habits. Fantastic notes. Could watch tape. I think he’s a great resource. If I’m a lineman here and I’m a tackle here and I don’t reach out to Joe, I’m a dumbass,” Warshop said.

There aren’t many better to learn from than 10-time Pro Bowl tackle Joe Thomas. The Hall of Famer spent 11 years holding down the left side of the offensive line in Cleveland. Thomas was not only great ability-wise, but also played 10 straight years without missing a game.
The 41-year-old is someone who can truly make a significant impact on these young players, such as Spencer Fano. The Browns selected Fano during the first round of this year’s draft. The rookie tackle is expected to begin the season as the starting left tackle. A spot Thomas is very familiar with, considering he spent 11 years playing that spot in Cleveland.
The Browns are hopeful that Fano can be the next cornerstone left tackle in Cleveland for the next decade. Fano has all the ability to be a Pro Bowl-caliber player, but he’s still young. The jump between college football and the pros is huge, and a lot of players are unable to make that transition.
Having a legend such as Thomas to help guide these young players in the right direction is huge. Thomas might be able to help the veterans learn a thing or two as well.
When you have one of the best players to ever play the position as a resource, then they better use it and learn from the greats.
