Luke Floriea’s strong training camp performance was not enough to save his spot in Cleveland, but the local product is already getting another opportunity elsewhere. The Mentor, Ohio native and former Kent State standout signed with the Browns as an undrafted free agent in 2025 and spent this past summer building real momentum, catching 3 touchdowns across the preseason before ultimately being released during final roster cuts. Rather than landing back on Cleveland’s practice squad, Floriea now finds himself drawing interest from outside the organization.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that the receiver has a tryout lined up with the Seattle Seahawks.

Floriea’s path to this point has been anything but easy. After going undrafted out of Kent State, where he totaled 100 receptions for 1,321 yards and 12 touchdowns across his final 3 college seasons, he battled through a hamstring injury during last year’s preseason that derailed his initial chance to make Cleveland’s roster. He spent the 2025 season on the practice squad before returning for another training camp push this summer, and this time he made sure his name was impossible to ignore, hauling in touchdowns in both the preseason finale against the Patriots and an earlier outing against the Bills.
Despite that production, Floriea ultimately ran into a numbers game at wide receiver that simply had no room left for him. Cleveland’s room already featured Jerry Jeudy, Isaiah Bond and Tylan Wallace alongside a pair of rookies in KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston, leaving little space even for a player who had clearly impressed.
Floriea will now look to carve out an opportunity with a Seattle team coming off a Super Bowl championship. Browns fans who watched Floriea’s rise throughout camp will likely continue rooting for him wherever he lands, and a strong tryout in Seattle could quickly turn this story into another example of a player finding the right opportunity just outside the building that first gave him his shot.
