Every NFL player is hurting by November. Bumps and bruises pile up week after week, and the players who keep suiting up through them earn a different kind of respect in the locker room. Teammates notice who shows up on Sundays when it would be easy to sit. One Browns linebacker is getting plenty of that respect right now.
Camryn Justice of News 5 Cleveland shared an update on Carson Schwesinger after Sunday’s loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers and revealed that he’s been playing through two injuries.
“#Browns LB Carson Schwesinger has been dealing with an ankle injury for the past few weeks. He also appears to be dealing with a hand/wrist injury, getting some extra wrapping in the medical tent during today’s game. His team called him a ‘warrior’ and a ‘tough SOB’ as he keeps playing through it,” Justice wrote.

The ankle injury has followed Schwesinger since the loss to the New York Jets on October 11. He left MetLife Stadium in a walking boot, missed practice early the next week and was listed as questionable against the Baltimore Ravens. He played anyway and finished with 13 tackles and a forced fumble.
He has not missed a game since. Schwesinger was limited in practice again last week with the same ankle, then went to Pittsburgh and led the Browns with 10 tackles in the 27-6 loss. Now he appears to have a hand or wrist issue on top of it.
His teammates’ words fit what others have said about him. Jared Verse called Schwesinger the most reliable person he knows and said he has an old-school linebacker mindset.
That toughness has deep roots. Schwesinger started his college career as a walk-on at UCLA before developing into one of the best linebackers in the country, and the Browns made him the first pick of the 2nd round in 2025. In his 2nd season, he has become the centerpiece of Mike Rutenberg’s defense.
The concern is how long his body can keep holding up. Pittsburgh ran for 200 yards on Sunday, and a linebacker playing through ankle and hand injuries cannot move or shed blockers the way he normally would.
The schedule offers no easy break. The Browns visit the New Orleans Saints on Sunday and host the Houston Texans a week later, with the trade deadline arriving in between. If Schwesinger’s injuries linger, linebacker depth could become another position Andrew Berry looks at before November 10.
For now, Schwesinger keeps playing, and his teammates clearly appreciate it. On a defense that has dealt with injuries all season, his willingness to keep showing up has helped define this team’s identity.
