Shedeur Sanders didn’t win his chance to be the Cleveland Browns’ starting quarterback, but he shouldn’t lose hope about his future with the team.
That is according to Damon Bruce, who shared his opinion on What’s Wright? with Nick Wright. Bruce told Sanders to be patient and wait, because things would eventually go his way.
He believes that Deshaun Watson’s days with the Browns are limited, and Sanders should be prepared to step in and fill the void he leaves.
“Shedeur, here’s some advice from Uncle Damon – don’t say a word. Just sit there and wait. Be patient. Be quiet, and blend in. This is eventually going to get to you. I don’t know if you’re gonna be successful once you get in there, but you will be QB1 before this year is over. I feel like the Browns have set up Deshaun Watson to fail one final time, so they can then make the move,” Bruce said.

The fan response to Watson over the last week has not been kind. He wasn’t playing as well as hoped during preseason games and then made some very controversial comments about the sour reception he received.
When Watson was named QB1, there were plenty of outraged people calling on Todd Monken to change his mind. However, Watson has definitely got the job, at least for now.
If the Browns start the season on the wrong foot, there is a very good chance that Watson could be demoted. If that’s the case, Sanders could be ready to slide right into the starting slot.
On top of that, it’s important to remember that this is the last year of Watson’s mammoth contract. Unless he somehow earns an extension, he won’t be in Cleveland in 2027. That sounds like ideal conditions for someone like Sanders to work his way up into the starting role.
Whether it be this season or next, Sanders could be the team’s leading quarterback soon. Unfortunately for him, he needs patience.
It’s not what he and many fans wanted, but the decision has been made, and now the waiting game begins.
