A big game for Mayfield

Baker Mayfield has said he wants to change the culture in Cleveland and loves the big stage.

The lights will be bright on Sunday night when the Browns travel to Heinz Field, which has been a house of horrors for them since their return in 1999.

For the Browns to have a chance to beat the Steelers Sunday night, they will certainly need Mayfield to lead them.

Mayfield’s first playoff appearance will not be an easy one without his playcaller in Kevin Stefanski or Pro Bowl guard in Joel Bitonio.

Mayfield has shown flashes this season of being a franchise quarterback and someone who can carry a team when needed.

In Weeks 12 through 15, Mayfield posted a passer rating of 116.7 or better in each of those games.

He has also shown the ability to take care of the football with no turnovers in the redzone.

Can the Browns beat the Steelers on Sunday night?

They certainly can, but everything will start with number 6.

These are the games where legacies are made and culture changes happen.

These are the games where star players rise above the adversity and make everyone else around them believe.

On Sunday night, Baker Mayfield has a chance to not only make the Browns believe, but for a national audience to believe in a team that has had a losing narrative for longer than anyone cares to remember.

Owner and Founder of BrownsNation.com. As a freelance sports journalist being born and raised in Ohio, I understand the Cleveland Browns fan base. Whether it was Red Right 88, The Drive, The Fumble, The Move, and whatever we're calling the post-1999 quarterback dilemma, Browns fans just want a winner. When I'm not plugging away in front of the computer, I'm probably watching sports or thinking about sports.
