Body language can say a lot about where a player’s head is at. Fans pick up on it quickly, especially when a veteran’s role starts to shrink and frustration has every reason to set in. Some players sulk, while others stay engaged and wait for their moment. One Browns legend believes Jerry Jeudy is firmly in the second group, and that a big performance could be coming soon.
Hanford Dixon believes Jeudy will soon have a breakout performance.
“The first ball he caught. Did you guys see him where he took the ball, and he was shaking the ball, and he was looking at the ball, and he kissed the ball, and then he held the ball up to the fans—I thought that was very, very exciting. That’s telling me that he’s into this thing, and he’s not walking around moping. He’s not griping. He just wants to contribute to this ball club and everything that’s going on,” Dixon said.

Adam Schefter named him among the players to watch ahead of the November 10 trade deadline, and Dan Graziano of ESPN included him on his list of top trade candidates last week.
Both reports pointed to the same issue. Rookies Denzel Boston and KC Concepcion have taken over as the top targets in the passing game, leaving Jeudy as a secondary option for most of the season.
That is a difficult adjustment for a receiver who topped 1,200 yards in 2024. Much of that production came after Deshaun Watson’s season-ending injury that year, with Jameis Winston under center, meaning Jeudy and Watson have spent relatively little time on the field together.
Thursday offered a glimpse of what Dixon is talking about. Jeudy caught 3 passes for 36 yards against the Pittsburgh Steelers, one of his more productive outings this season, and his celebration after the first catch showed a player who still wants to be part of what this team is building.
That attitude matters. Veterans who feel squeezed out can become a distraction, especially on a roster this young, and Jeudy appears to be handling the situation the right way.
His contract adds another layer. Jeudy is signed through 2027, but his salary for that season is not guaranteed, so a strong stretch could either boost his trade value or convince the Browns he is worth keeping around.
A breakout game against the New York Jets on October 11 would come at the perfect time. With the deadline approaching, every performance is effectively an audition, whether it is for Cleveland or another team.
Dixon spent 9 seasons with the Browns and knows what a committed teammate looks like. If he is right about Jeudy, Cleveland may end up with a problem most teams would welcome: too many capable receivers for a passing game that is finally starting to click.
