Browns Lineman Carted Off During Thursday’s Practice

Injuries have already become a defining storyline of this Browns training camp, and Thursday added another concerning chapter to that narrative. The offensive line in particular has been hit hard through the first several weeks, with starters and depth pieces alike missing time at various points along the front five. Now Zak Zinter has become the latest name to draw attention, and the manner in which he left practice is enough to raise real concern among Browns fans watching the roster take shape.

The image itself tells most of the story, showing Zinter being driven off the practice field and into the team facility rather than walking off under his own power, which is typically the more concerning of the two outcomes when a player goes down. Zinter has had a difficult path since Cleveland selected him in the third round of the 2024 draft out of Michigan. He appeared in 17 games as a rookie but started only three of them, and last season was even more limited, appearing in just five games without a single start. Across two seasons in the league, Zinter has yet to establish himself as a full-time contributor on an offensive line that has churned through options at guard in particular, a spot that has become one of the more unsettled positions on the entire roster this summer.

The Browns have shown throughout this offseason that they intend to build the best possible five up front regardless of draft status or reputation, and that approach only becomes more difficult to execute when players keep landing in the medical tent. Zinter now joins a growing list of linemen dealing with some form of absence, and how quickly he returns will say plenty about both his outlook for the 2026 season and the Browns’ margin for error at a position group already searching for answers.
