The Cleveland Browns do serious work during the NFL draft, always looking to get a hold of the best young stars to bring into the league. This offseason was no different, and general manager Andrew Berry seemingly secured a few up-and-coming stars. There are several newcomers doing great things for the Browns, but one deserves special praise for what he did in Week 6.
According to PFF College, Austin Barber was the highest-graded NFL rookie offensive lineman for Week 6 with a rating of 74.4.

Barber was taken in the third round of the draft, going as the 86th overall pick. For some, that meant he wasn’t someone to keep an eye on and would simply be a backup player, filler for the rest of the offensive line. But Barber started to prove his value right away and was already receiving high marks after Week 1. Since then, he has remained important for the team and is earning his time on the field.
Barber fought hard throughout training camp for his position on the team. He was originally envisioned as a swing tackle and had to battle against Dawand Jones for playing time. The more he worked with the coaching staff, the more confident he became.
The Florida native is among several rookies in Cleveland who are attempting to stake their claim and show how valuable they can be for this team. His time in college has shown that Barber can remain strong and reliable if he stays healthy. At six-foot-seven and 320 pounds, Barber has plenty of strength to throw around and create holes for the Cleveland offense.
Like the rest of the team, 2026 has gotten off to a positive start for Barber, but now the goal will be to keep it up. If the offensive lineman is still putting up strong ratings several weeks down the road, he could be receiving more recognition, and the Browns could be even more likely to end up in the playoffs.
Barber wasn’t the most talked-about rookie in the 2026 draft, but he is reminding fans that the Browns knew what they were doing when they signed him.
