Some general managers sit back and let the trade deadline pass quietly. Others treat it as a chance to reshape a roster in the middle of a season, especially when a team has exceeded expectations. Knowing which type is running a front office can tell fans plenty about what to expect in the coming weeks. One longtime Browns insider believes Cleveland’s general manager falls firmly into the second category.
Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com discussed the Browns’ approach to the deadline on 92.3 The Fan, and believes Berry could make some big moves.
“‘I think this is the team of year that Andrew Berry loves to wheel and deal. I think he’s going to leave no stone unturned in his quest to add to this roster,” Cabot said.

Berry has never been shy about pulling the trigger on significant moves, from acquiring Jerry Jeudy in 2024 to swapping cornerbacks with the Jacksonville Jaguars last season, sending Greg Newsome II away in exchange for Tyson Campbell. This offseason, he made the biggest move of his tenure by trading Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams.
That last deal gives Berry plenty of ammunition. The Garrett trade brought back Jared Verse and extra draft capital, including a Rams 1st-round pick next spring, giving Cleveland the flexibility to add without sacrificing its future.
The needs are obvious. The offensive line allowed 8 sacks against the New York Jets, the interior of the defensive line has been ravaged by injuries, and the backfield lost Raheim Sanders to injured reserve while Quinshon Judkins battles an ankle injury.
Berry has pieces he could move as well. Jeudy has been widely reported as available, with the Browns seeking an early 3rd- to 4th-round pick, and Shedeur Sanders has been the subject of trade speculation since hiring an agent.
Cabot’s suggestion that Berry will leave no stone unturned signals that the front office views this team as a legitimate contender. At 3-2 and in the thick of the AFC North race, the Browns have a real chance to make a push, and adding the right pieces could make a significant difference down the stretch.
The next few weeks should bring plenty of clarity. Sunday’s game against a Baltimore Ravens team playing without Lamar Jackson is a major opportunity, and a win would only strengthen the case for Berry to be aggressive before the November 10 deadline.
