Deshaun Watson was the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns during Week 1, and he will be QB1 for the team during their Week 2 game. No one knows for sure what will happen during the Browns’ first home game, but Watson will lead them when they’re on the road.
Speaking to 92.3 The Fan, Jason Lloyd made his confusion clear. He doesn’t understand why Todd Monken is sticking with Watson as the starting quarterback on the Browns’ road trip.
He feels that it’s been enough time, too little has been proven, and it’s time to make a change.
“I’ve never understood this whole idea that [Deshaun Watson] has to start the road games to start the year. Somebody explain that to me. Shedeur played plenty on the road last year. Why, suddenly, is he not capable of starting road games? Why do you have to shake anything out of the tree? There’s nothing left in the tree. We’ve known for four years there’s nothing left in the tree. Guess what, there’s still no fruit,” Lloyd said.

Some people felt that Watson made more sense for their initial road games for a few reasons.
Firstly, there is added pressure and intensity when teams aren’t playing for their home crowds. Due to his years of experience and expertise, certain fans felt that Watson would thrive in this environment. So far, he has not.
Others thought that Monken was testing Watson out before the Browns head home. If Watson showed he had what it takes to lead them during the first few games on the road, he could return to the loyal home fans with some goodwill and a bit of faith.
However, if the Browns continue to lose, there is a sizeable chance that Watson and his team will hear boos in a few weeks when they return home. The preseason already showed that many people don’t feel Watson is the right fit for this team, and they aren’t afraid to say so.
Week 1 was important, but Week 2 could be even more consequential. Watson will attempt to get back on track and show that he can lead this team.
If not, Monken will face some tough decisions before Cleveland heads home.
